Gran BAWON is a name with exotic overtones, given to this 100% organic wine crafted from the fermentation of tropical fruits grown in the Haitian terroir (all hand-harvested): pineapple, passion fruit, cherry, tamarind, guava, mango, orange, golden apple (prune de cythère) — depending on the season.
A refreshingly exotic drink that blends the elegance of wine with the vibrant energy of the tropics — perfect with seafood, grilled dishes, or a summer barbecue.
Enjoy it as an aperitif, with dessert, or throughout a meal — if paired thoughtfully.
Produced by Ecotrans Plus (Haiti), this wine contains no additives.

Cuvées

Tamarind (Gran Bawon)

Bold, powerful, and unapologetically tropical, our Tamarind Wine celebrates the perfect balance between the tamarind's vibrant acidity and the subtle sweetness of a well-controlled fermentation. Crafted through artisanal expertise deeply rooted in Caribbean tradition, this nectar reveals an amber hue with warm highlights, intense fruity notes, and a long, slightly spicy finish. It's a wine with character — like the land it comes from — an invitation to escape, to sunshine, and to authenticity. Best enjoyed chilled, among friends, to rediscover the true taste of Haiti.

Cherry (Gran Bawon)

Fruity, captivating, and vibrant, our Caribbean Cherry Cuvée pays tribute to the Caribbean cherry — that small, radiant red fruit with its uniquely sweet and tangy flavor. Each sip conjures up tropical markets, sun-drenched gardens, and sweet childhood memories. Its ruby-red color, heady aroma, and natural freshness make it a wine that's as festive as it is sensual. Perfect for joyful moments shared with others, or to savor alone for an instant journey to the heart of the Caribbean.

Terroir

Dronivity

No highway connects our crops—only trails, sun-kissed slopes, and orchards scattered between mountains and valleys. Our fruits are grown in Haiti's most vibrant provinces: the fertile plateaus of the Centre, the misty hills of the Southeast near Marigot, and the generous lands of Léogâne open to the sea.

With each season, the soil remembers. Whether limestone, clay, or sand, every terroir lends our fruits a unique signature. A living memory of Haitian earth, which we transform into wine with respect and passion.

Soil and climate

High above Kenscoff, on the edge of Marigot, the soil is red, rocky, and teeming with life. Further north, near Hinche and Saint-Raphaël, the plateaus open onto limestone lands, scattered with flat, pale stones shaped by centuries of rain and tropical winds. These are the terroirs — rugged, generous, and alive — that inspire our vineyard project.

Where morning mist kisses the slopes, where the wind flows freely between valleys and hills, we've found the perfect balance of sunlight, coolness, and altitude. These natural conditions promise exceptional fruits. Already, tamarind trees and Caribbean cherry trees thrive there, full of the unique character of their native soil.

Gran BAWON believes in wine that tells a story — a story of land and soul. And soon, these Haitian lands, shaped by mountains and wind, will host our first vineyard orchards. A promise rooted in both dream and reality.

In the vineyard

Between the Hand of Man and the Breath of the Earth

At Gran BAWON, we believe that an exceptional wine is not only born from the fruit but from the land that nurtured it. A terroir wine is first and foremost a story of climate, soil, light, and silence. But it is also, and above all, a meeting between nature and those who cultivate it with patience.

In Haiti, our fruits are rooted in the lands of the Central Plateau, the South-East, and the South. Soon, our first vines will also grow on these fertile slopes. This vineyard project is both a promise and a tribute to our landscapes.

In our vision, cultivation does not mean domination. It is more about guiding, accompanying, sometimes constraining – but never betraying the essence of the plant. For nature, left to its own devices, produces abundantly… but not always excellently. Yet, too many constraints can kill the soul of the fruit.

We therefore move forward on this delicate line: – draw the best from the soil, without depleting it; – listen to the natural cycle, without blindly submitting to it.

Each cut, each gesture, each moment of silence matters. Where the vines will grow, we commit to respecting the balance of life. And from today, every fruit we press, every cuvée we raise, already carries this philosophy.

Gran BAWON is the art of working with nature, rather than against it. A gentle way of accompanying life so that the wine that results speaks to the soul as much as it does to the palate.

In the cellar

A Craftsmanship of Precision, from the Earth to the Cellar

At Gran BAWON, the work in the transformation workshop is the natural extension of our commitment to a product true to its terroir. While everything begins in the vineyard — with the quality of the fruits from our regions, their ripeness, their variety — it is in our winemaking workshop that this promise takes shape. And once again, nothing is left to chance.

Transforming a fruit into nectar, wine, or aromatic concentrate requires rigorous and constant attention. The alchemy is subtle: temperature, fermentation, resting, decanting… Every step matters, every minute can tip the balance we are seeking.

Two identical vats, two matching barrels, two batches made on the same day can yield different results. That is the living part, the little surprise that also brings magic to the craft. This is why our aging and blending work is so important. It is the final, intimate, and committed touch that we place on each cuvée.

A Gran BAWON cuvée is much more than a product: it is a creation born of a place, a climate, a gesture, and a vision.

In the winery

A Committed Vision, in Harmony with Life

At Ecotrans, every action counts. We believe that respect for life, whether human, plant, or earthly, should guide our approach from the field to the bottle. With Gran BAWON, we have chosen to prioritize a holistic and coherent approach, where biodiversity, ethics, soil health, and social responsibility are inseparable.

We do not yet have organic certification, but we are getting closer every day. All our supply chains are based on small-scale and sustainable farming, with a constant commitment to quality, transparency, and respect for Haitian nature. Our first winemaking trials align with this philosophy, and our goal is clear: to make Gran BAWON the first organic wine from Haiti, born from our terroirs and faithful to their values.

We know that no label is an end in itself. They are markers, guides for progress, never cages. This is why our vision goes beyond the normative framework. We want to explore, test, learn… to invent, in our own way, a more virtuous, just, and deeply rooted agricultural and food model within our island reality.

At Ecotrans, we move forward with humility, but with the certainty that another relationship with the land is possible. Gran BAWON is just the beginning.

A Commitment Beyond Our Plots

Gran BAWON is a project rooted in the land, but also in a broader vision. The ecological, social, and agricultural challenges facing Haiti go far beyond the boundaries of our farms.

With Ecotrans, we've always championed a collective approach to transformation. It is in this spirit that we launched the movement BelAyitiVèt: an association advocating for green tourism, ecological awareness, and the revalorization of Haiti's landscapes. Promoting a more conscious Haiti, one that values its natural wealth, also means preparing the ground for future generations.

We believe that sustainable development cannot happen in isolation. It emerges through synergy between farmers, artisans, institutions, and those who love this country. By weaving these connections, products like Gran BAWON can one day represent Haiti on a global scale — not only for their flavor, but for their values and commitment.
